The Beat Goes On
Today, we said a tearful goodbye to our friend Neal—a man full of life, always quick with a joke, a song, or a spot-on accent. Neal wasn’t just the life of the party; he was a virtuoso in every sense. A creative genius who built a thriving ad agency from the ground up. A devoted husband and father. A gifted musician. And an unforgettable friend who made everyone feel seen, welcome, and alive.
When Neal’s mother passed away from cancer when he was just fifteen, he was wise enough to understand something many of us spend a lifetime learning—that every day is a gift. He lived his life that way: fully, joyfully, and without holding back.
At fifty-eight, Neal found his voice—literally—becoming the leader of an eight-piece band that played gigs locally and even in the UK. His music brought people together in the way only he could: with heart, humor, and undeniable talent.
When pancreatic cancer knocked on his door, Neal met it as he had met every other challenge—with acceptance, cooperation, and peace. Even in the most challenging moments, he showed us what grace looks like.
We have so many fond memories of Neal and Michelle’s legendary annual Christmas bash. Neal set the stage for us all to let go of our burdens, dance without hesitation, and remember what it felt like to be young, playful, and free. Our son once threw a party and said afterward that he had “Neal Linnihaned it.” I can’t think of a higher compliment—because to “Neal Linnihan” something means to fill it with music, magic, generosity, and heart.
Neal’s legacy is a melody of laughter, rhythm, and connection. He shared his gifts freely and humbly, and though the world feels quieter without him, his echo remains—joyful, upbeat, and full of fun—playing on in our hearts forever.
