Finding Our Calm in the Midst of Chaos
"In bullfighting, there is an interesting parallel to the pause as a place of refuge and renewal. It is believed that in the midst of a fight, a bull can find his own particular area of safety in the arena. There he can reclaim his strength and power. This place and inner state are called his querencia. As long as the Bull remains enraged and reactive, the matador is in charge. Yet when he finds his querencia, he gathers his strength and loses his fear. From the matador's perspective, at this point, the Bull is truly dangerous, for he has tapped into his power."

I love this quote because I have learned that when I find my querencia, the place inside of myself where I am calm, centered, and confident, I am more powerful and effective. For example, recently, my clients, the sellers, the lender, and the listing agent were at a crossroads regarding how to proceed. Once I let go of my fear of the deal falling through and paused to find my center, I gained clarity on creating a win/win for all parties involved.
It is easy for me to feel unbalanced when dealing with daily challenges, but the more I practice listening to my inner wisdom, the more effective I am. How do you find your querencia?
