Learning How to Handle Disappointments

"If we will be quiet and ready enough, we shall find compensation in every disappointment." ~Henry David Thoreau

I got to be a part of an electric crowd at the Minnesota Twins playoff game, but as in baseball and life, we never know which pitch we will get. Disappointments are an inevitable part of the human experience. While we may not control the pitches life throws at us, we have control over how we respond to them. For years, I bemoaned every curveball thrown at me and asked, "Why me?" My life changed when I realized that how I handled disappointments reflected who I was as a person. I  started to see challenges and obstacles as stepping stones to personal growth and new adventures. I turned disappointments into opportunities by shifting my perspective, learning from setbacks, building resilience, and trying new things. So, the next time life throws you a curveball, remember it's not about the pitch you receive but how you swing that bat.
